Fragrance is always such a personal choice and preference, and what I love and enjoy you might hate! Either way, here’s a list of the ones I’ve been enjoying so far this autumn.
There’s a lot of vanilla on here (I’m not even sorry), plus pumpkin, chai, hazelnut, chocolate and one very sticky dessert. So if you’re after cosy autumn perfumes for women rather than fresh, sparkly stuff, this is what I keep reaching for. Where to buy each one sits right under its photo, so you don’t have to scroll to the bottom for links.
At a glance
My 10 autumn fragrance faves for 2026 are Chloé Cedrus de Nuit, Lush Sticky Dates, Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème and Chai Épicé, Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Intense, Burberry Goddess and Goddess Amber Vanilla, Victoria’s Secret Bare Sueded Vanilla, and Lattafa Angham and Nebras. The sweetest is Lush Sticky Dates. The softest, and the best one for layering, is Bare Sueded Vanilla. The D&G, Burberry and Le Monde Gourmand bottles are at LOOKFANTASTIC, where my code LFTFNEVEEN gives up to 25% off. Sticky Dates comes with a free Lord of Misrule shower gel on £15+ orders through my Friends of Lush link until 31 October 2026. Skin chemistry changes how a perfume smells on you, so try a tester or a small decant before you blind buy a full bottle.

Chloé Cedrus de Nuit

Chloé Cedrus de Nuit is one of the newer bottles in the Atelier des Fleurs collection, and whatever the name says, I don’t find it very cedar-heavy at all. It opens spicy, with cinnamon, clove and black pepper. Then the Queen of the Night flower comes through and gives it this honeyed, slightly unusual edge that I love, before vanilla and benzoin soften the whole thing down. It starts off surprisingly strong and calms down after the first hour or so. It clings to clothes well too, so I’d expect it to last longer on a jumper or coat then on skin alone.
It’s also my husband’s favourite of the bunch. I asked him why and his full review was “It smells nice”. It does! It’s pretty expensive, so I started off with a sample before I bit the bullet on a full bottle, and I’m so glad I did.
Lush Sticky Dates

Okay, Lush Sticky Dates is basically dessert in body-spray form. Ridiculously sweet and syrupy – sticky date pudding with caramel and brown sugar. If you don’t like very sweet gourmands, run for the hills because this one is absolutely unapologetic. There’s something darker and more buttery about it than your average vanilla, which is why it smells like an actual pudding to me. From what I’ve read, performance varies massively. When it works though, it REALLY works, with people getting several hours of projection followed by a softer skin scent, and great staying power on clothes.
Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème

Autumn in a bottle, this one. 🎃 Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème is a warm, softly spiced pumpkin with nutmeg and sandalwood, and I wouldn’t put it anywhere near those fake pumpkin candles. Softer and creamier than that (there’s a frothed milk note in there too), and the sandalwood gives the pumpkin spice a cosy, slightly woody base. This is the one I grab when I want to smell like autumn without going full cinnamon-and-clove. It layers so easily with vanilla or caramel body products. On me, the Le Monde Gourmand ones don’t last very long and they don’t project much either. But honestly I love that for days when I want to keep a scent close to my skin, and the bottles are small enough to throw in my purse if I want to reapply.
Le Monde Gourmand Chai Épicé

Chai Épicé is more fig and violet than chai latte, if I’m honest. Soft musk and blonde woods sit underneath, and there’s a creamy, powdery feel to it that keeps it cosy without getting heavy. I’d call it a soft autumn skin scent. Nobody is going to smell you from across the room. Same as the Pumpkin Crème, it doesn’t last long or project much on me, so I happily overspray this one and layer it.
Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Intense

Devotion Intense takes the original Devotion and swaps the bright lemony sweetness for something warmer and nuttier. I was teetering between the original and the Intense, and a few reviews on Reddit swayed me to go for the Intense. The hazelnut is the star for me. Add orange blossom and a creamy vanilla base and it ends up like a warm hazelnut dessert with a bit of floral softness running through it, richer and more grown-up than the original. Cosy and a little bit fancy, so it’s lovely for evenings and colder weather. Most people seem to describe the performance as solid rather than huge, and it hangs on to clothes well.
Burberry Goddess

If I had to pick the grown-up vanilla of the bunch, it’s Burberry Goddess. Creamy and comforting, with lavender that stops it turning into a cupcake. There’s a little ginger and cocoa underneath the vanilla too. I find it incredibly easy to wear in autumn and winter, and it has that clean designer feel that works as an everyday signature scent. Performance is where people disagree the most. Some find it sits very close to the skin and still lasts six-plus hours, while others say it’s much weaker on them. On me it’s more of a soft vanilla aura than a room-filler.
Burberry Goddess Amber Vanilla

Goddess Amber Vanilla takes the original and makes it warmer and much more gourmand. The lavender is still there, but it’s pushed right back while the vanilla, maple syrup accord and amber take over. To me it feels like the cosier, more indulgent sister of the original Goddess. The maple mostly comes across as a caramelised sweetness on the vanilla (not pancakes, before you ask). Early reviews say it has a noticeably stronger presence than the original, with some people still finding it quite strong after several hours. I’d save this one for autumn and winter, when I want something warm and creamy.
Victoria’s Secret Bare Sueded Vanilla

Bare Sueded Vanilla is a much softer, quieter take on vanilla. It has that creamy, musky sweetness I love, with a warm, suede-like softness underneath that keeps it away from straight-up sugar or frosting. Smooth and easy to wear. It’s what I go for when I want something subtle instead of a huge gourmand cloud around me, and I love it for layering because it adds a creamy vanilla base without taking over whatever perfume I’m wearing. It sits close to the skin and longevity is moderate on me, so I tend to spray it generously and use it as an everyday or layering vanilla more than a night-out perfume.
Lattafa Angham

Lattafa Angham is such an easy one to love if you’re into creamy vanilla gourmands with a bit of aromatic sweetness. It opens bright with mandarin, ginger and pink pepper, then the lavender comes in and it settles into creamy vanilla and praline with that warm, fluffy feeling I associate with cosy evening fragrances. Sweet, but not fully syrupy, which is probably why I find it so easy to reach for. Performance seems to be one of its strengths, although reports vary. I’ve seen people say four to five hours with very good projection, while others find it softer. Either way its one of those affordable fragrances that smells a lot more expensive than the price would suggest.
Lattafa Nebras

My chocolate-vanilla gourmand of the group is Lattafa Nebras. 🍫 Creamy and sweet with a little fruitiness, red berries and mandarin at the start before the vanilla, cacao and rose come through. The dry-down is where I think it really shines. The chocolate and vanilla go softer and creamier, and tonka, amber and musk give it some depth underneath. Very much a cosy cold-weather fragrance for me, although I can see why some people wear it year-round. Performance seems to vary from skin to skin, but most people say it lasts well, with moderate projection, so it isn’t a total room-filler. I’ve seen reports of six-plus hours quite easily, while others find it sits closer to the skin but lasts much longer on clothing.
Try a tester before you blind buy a perfume
Quick word before you go and add all ten to your basket. Perfume doesn’t smell the same on everyone – your skin chemistry gets a say in it too. How oily or dry your skin is, and even the body lotion you’ve got on underneath, can change how a scent smells once it’s sprayed on you and how long it hangs around (annoying, but true). So the creamy vanilla I’m going on about could turn sharp on you, or vanish after an hour.
That’s why I’d always try a tester first, or buy a small decant before you blind buy a full bottle. Spray it on your actual skin, not just a paper strip, and give it a few hours before you decide. Finding out a full bottle smells weird on you is a big fat nope I’d rather you skip.
Autumn perfume FAQs
What are the best autumn perfumes for women?
My favourites this autumn are cosy gourmands and soft vanillas: Burberry Goddess, Burberry Goddess Amber Vanilla, Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Intense, Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème and Chai Épicé, Lush Sticky Dates, Victoria’s Secret Bare Sueded Vanilla, Lattafa Angham and Nebras, and Chloé Cedrus de Nuit. Fragrance is personal though, so what I love you might not.
Which scent on the list is the sweetest?
Lush Sticky Dates, which is a body spray rather than a perfume. It smells like sticky date pudding, with caramel and brown sugar, and it’s unapologetically sweet. If you don’t like very sweet gourmands, skip this one.
Which of these perfumes is best for layering?
Victoria’s Secret Bare Sueded Vanilla sits close to the skin and adds a creamy vanilla base without taking over another perfume. Le Monde Gourmand Pumpkin Crème also layers easily with vanilla or caramel body products.
Is Burberry Goddess Amber Vanilla stronger than the original Goddess?
Early reviews say it has a noticeably stronger presence than the original, with some people still finding it quite strong after several hours. It’s also warmer and more gourmand, with the lavender pushed into the background.
Why does perfume smell different on my skin?
Skin chemistry plays a part. How oily or dry your skin is, and the body products you layer underneath, can change how a perfume smells and how long it lasts on you. That’s why I’d always try a tester on your skin or buy a small decant before blind buying a full bottle.
