SKIN1004 Review: 11 SKIN1004 Products, Every Ingredient List Checked

My four SKIN1004 favourites: the Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum, Madagascar Centella Ampoule, Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule and Centella Soothing Cream

I finished a whole bottle of the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule. The entire thing.

That doesn’t sound like much, I know. But I review skincare, so most bottles in my bathroom get opened, used for a few weeks and then shoved aside for whatever turns up next. Finishing one is rare. Wanting to keep buying it even while I’m testing a pile of other things is rarer still, and that’s where I am with this one.

So when I sat down to write about the whole brand, I had a head start. Four SKIN1004 products are in my routine or have been recently: that ampoule, the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule, the Hyalu-Cica sunscreen and the Centella Soothing Cream. The other seven in this post are the ones I see recommended over and over, and for every one of them I read the full ingredient list all the way to the bottom (which is where the oils and esters like to hide) plus what other people with sensitive skin have said.

Here’s what I didn’t expect. SKIN1004 has this reputation as the gentle, sensitive skin brand, and some of it really is about as gentle as skincare gets. But a few products with the same Madagascar Centella name on the front have essential oils in them, and a couple are packed with exactly the stuff seb derm hates. Same branding. Very different bottles.

Last updated: October 2026

At a glance

The SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule has seven ingredients, no fragrance and no oils, and it’s the one I’d buy first for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. The Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule is my pick for redness, and its ingredient list has no fungal acne triggers. The Light Cleansing Oil contains bergamot, geranium and rose oils, and the Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule contains a small amount of tea tree oil, so patch test both if you have rosacea. The Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule and the Probio-Cica Enrich Cream both contain plant oils and fatty acids, which makes them the hardest picks for seb derm. LOOKFANTASTIC stocks eight of the eleven products here, and code LFTFNEVEEN gives up to 25% off there. STYLEVANA carries the other three, with code INF10NEVE for up to 25% off.

How I’m judging these

Anything about how a product feels on my face comes from my own combination skin, and I’ve told you which four those are. Everything else comes from the ingredient lists and from other people’s reviews, and where reviews disagree I’ve said so instead of picking a side. Want to check a bottle you already own? Paste its list into my skin ingredient checker. It has tabs for fungal acne and seb derm, rosacea, pore clogging and a few more.

One warning before we start. SKIN1004 lists can vary between the US, EU and Korean versions of the same product, so check the box in your hand.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule review

SKIN1004 Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule
Buy the azelaic acid ampoule▾See where to buy it

This is the SKIN1004 product I use most, and I’ve already written a full Anua vs SKIN1004 azelaic acid comparison, so this is the short version. I love this one, and on my skin it feels lighter than the popular Anua one. It’s 10% azelaic acid plus two azelaic derivatives, potassium azeloyl diglycinate and azelamide MEA, in a watery ampoule. SKIN1004 calls it a 3X azelaic formula.

Texture is the big win. Raw azelaic acid is famously awkward to formulate and lots of 10% products end up gritty, but this one is thin and disappears almost instantly, so it sits under sunscreen without a fight. It’s fragrance free and alcohol free, and there’s no betaine salicylate or other BHA riding along with the azelaic, which is a big part of why I lean on it for my type 1 rosacea. This one has never tingled on me, which I put down to how gentle and lightweight it is. I know some people do feel a tingle, though, and I also spent years using far stronger azelaic acids, so I imagine my skin is pretty used to it by now. Yours might not be.

Seb derm wise, it’s one of the cleanest active serums I’ve come across. No plant oils and no esters. Tocopherol sits near the end of the list, which some very strict people flag. What it won’t do is fix a wrecked barrier, because there are no ceramides in it. That’s your moisturizer’s job.

The one that started all this. Seven ingredients: centella asiatica extract, water, glycerin, butylene glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, cellulose gum and ethylhexylglycerin. Depending on which listing you read the order shifts, and the US one I found puts water first, so there’s more than one version floating around.

I’ve used an entire one, and honestly it felt like it lasted forever. It’s lightweight and very calming, and it never felt like it was trying to do anything clever. That’s kind of the point of it. It’s a supporting step, the thing you reach for when your face is having a day and you want to settle it down without adding a single new risk.

It isn’t a moisturizer though. On dry days it won’t be enough by itself, so put a cream over it. And if you’re hoping it’ll fade marks or clear breakouts, it won’t, because that’s not what it’s built for.

For seb derm and rosacea at the same time, this is about as easy as a serum gets. There’s nothing on the list that Malassezia feeds on, and no fragrance either. You’ll also find it on my list of Korean skincare products that helped my rosacea.

SKIN1004 sunscreen review: Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+

SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+, one of my favourites
SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

I love this sunscreen. It’s one of only two from my Korean sunscreen post still sitting on my shelf (and I rotate SPF a lot).

On my combination skin it wears great and leaves no white cast, even under makeup. The bit I like most is that I use it as my sunscreen AND my moisturizer step before makeup. I reach for it every day, and on makeup days I swap between this and my trusty Canmake Mermaid UV Gel depending on which foundation I’m wearing and how my skin is feeling.

The finish is dewy – if you love a glow, great. If you’re very oily and hate any shine on your T-zone, it might be too much for you, and reviews online split right down that line. There are also scattered reports of eye stinging and of pilling when it goes over a lot of other layers.

Now the seb derm bit, because I had to change my mind on this one. It gets called fungal acne safe all over the internet, and I had it down as safe too until I read the full list properly. Polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate and sodium stearoyl glutamate are in there, next to behenyl alcohol and coco-caprylate/caprate. Stearates are the part of all this with real evidence behind them, so I can’t call it seb derm safe.

Also worth knowing: the US version is a different formula with different UV filters, so check which one you’re buying.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream, one of my favourites
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Soothing Cream
Buy the Soothing Cream▾See where to buy it

This is the one I point people to when their skin is reactive and they want a moisturizer that won’t start anything. It’s a light gel cream built on centella, with five ceramides and cholesterol plus tranexamic acid further down the list.

No fragrance in it. I’ll be straight with you though, there’s peppermint leaf extract and ginger root extract on the list, which surprised me in a cream sold for calming. They’re extracts, not essential oils, and they sit around the middle. If mint is a known trigger for you, now you know.

I think it’s great. The only annoying thing is it can feel a tiny tiny tinyyy bit tacky right after I put it on (even the Purito oat gel does that on me, and this one has less tack), but it doesn’t stick around for long. One review I read said something similar, that it stayed a bit sticky until sunscreen went on top.

On the seb derm side, there’s a radish root ferment filtrate in the middle, then hydrogenated lecithin, cetearyl alcohol and stearic acid near the end. Not terrible, not spotless. Patch test if your skin is picky.

Quick warning so you don’t grab the wrong tub. SKIN1004 also sells a product called just Madagascar Centella Cream, and it’s a different formula. On the list I found for it, there’s lavender oil and orange oil.

SKIN1004 Light Cleansing Oil review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil
SKIN1004 Light Cleansing Oil
Buy the Light Cleansing Oil▾See where to buy it

Hugely popular, and it does what a cleansing oil should. It melts makeup and sunscreen, then rinses off milky once you add water. Most of the reviews I read praise how light it feels.

Before you buy, though, turn the bottle over. After the esters you’ll find sunflower, olive and jojoba oil, then bergamot fruit oil, geranium flower oil and rose flower oil. Those last three are essential oils, and one German retailer’s listing adds limonene and linalool on top. It rinses off, so it isn’t sitting on your face all day, but if fragrance sets your rosacea off I’d skip this one.

For seb derm it’s a lot. Ethylhexyl stearate is first, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate is third, and then come all those plant oils. If oils have never bothered your skin, carry on. If they have, follow it with a gentle second cleanser, or look at the options in my face washes for seborrheic dermatitis post instead.

SKIN1004 Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule
SKIN1004 Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule
Buy the Probio-Cica ampoule▾See where to buy it

Think of this as the richer sister of the original ampoule. Reviews mostly compare the two. People who found the original too light for their dryness say this one keeps their skin comfortable, and one Reddit user with oily, sensitive skin credited it with calming their redness after they simplified their routine around it. One person’s experience, not a promise.

It’s a more substantial serum, with fermented centella, niacinamide seventh on the list, ceramide NP, panthenol and plenty of hydration.

Seb derm is where it falls down. Caprylic/capric triglyceride is sixth, followed by a lactobacillus ferment filtrate, C14-22 alcohols, hydroxystearic acid, cetearyl alcohol, macadamia seed oil, stearic acid, polyglyceryl-10 myristate and lauric acid. That’s alot of what Malassezia likes to eat. For dry skin without seb derm it’s an easy step up from the original, but with seb derm I’d leave it on the shelf.

SKIN1004 Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule
SKIN1004 Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule
Buy the Tone Brightening ampoule▾See where to buy it

This is the brightening one, for dullness and leftover marks. On the list I checked, niacinamide sits third and tranexamic acid fifth, with a vitamin C derivative, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, and little beads of madecassoside, which is where the capsules come from.

Niacinamide plus tranexamic acid is a classic pairing for brown marks, but it works slowly. Think weeks, and only if you’re wearing sunscreen every single day, or the marks just keep coming back.

No fragrance and no plant oils. The only seb derm flags are hydrogenated lecithin and a lactobacillus ferment right at the end of the list, which makes it easier than most brightening serums I’ve checked. If dark spots are your main worry, my Korean skincare for hyperpigmentation post goes through six more, every ingredient checked.

SKIN1004 Poremizing Fresh Ampoule review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Poremizing Fresh Ampoule

The pore one. Centella is listed at 50.47% (such a weirdly specific number, I love it), with hyaluronic acid, a stack of peptides and some chamomile flower extract.

Let’s be realistic about pores though. No serum shrinks them for good – a light, hydrating one can make them look a bit less obvious, and that’s about the size of it.

Nothing on the list worried me for seb derm, because there are no oils or esters in it. If you’re oily and wanted something lighter than the Probio-Cica, this is the better fit.

SKIN1004 Probio-Cica Enrich Cream review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Enrich Cream
SKIN1004 Probio-Cica Enrich Cream
Buy the Probio-Cica Enrich Cream▾See where to buy it

The rich one. SKIN1004 sells it for dry, normal and combination skin, and it’s a thick, buttery cream with shea butter, ceramide NP and fermented centella. Beauty Bay reviewers keep calling it a lovely night cream, which makes sense given what’s in it.

For seb derm, though, it’s the hardest product in this whole post. Shea butter, macadamia oil and moringa oil, plus a run of esters, glyceryl stearate and a ferment filtrate. If your skin is dry and seb derm isn’t part of your life, it’s worth a look. If it is, my seb derm safe Korean moisturizers post has nine better options.

If your skin sits somewhere in the middle, the Soothing Cream is the lighter moisturizer from the same brand.

SKIN1004 Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule
SKIN1004 Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule
Buy the Tea-Trica ampoule▾See where to buy it

Tea-Trica is SKIN1004’s blemish ampoule, built on centella extract at 55%, with tea tree leaf water at 9.4% and a small amount of tea tree leaf oil, listed at 200ppm.

Reviews are split. Some people say it calmed the redness around their spots over a few months. Others felt it was too similar to the original ampoule to bother with, and at least one person said their acne got worse while using it. Calming redness and treating acne aren’t the same thing, so I wouldn’t buy this expecting it to clear breakouts on its own.

Tea tree oil is the rosacea flag here. 200ppm works out at 0.02%, which is tiny, but it’s still an essential oil, so patch test. The one seb derm flag is polyglyceryl-10 laurate, an ester made from lauric acid, which is C12 and inside the range Malassezia can use.

SKIN1004 Quick Calming Pads review

SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Quick Calming Pads
SKIN1004 Quick Calming Pads
Buy the Quick Calming Pads▾See where to buy it

Toner pads soaked in a centella essence. Only ten ingredients, with centella asiatica extract listed at 49% plus panthenol and sodium hyaluronate. No fragrance, no oils.

SKIN1004 suggests laying a pad on your cheeks or forehead for three to five minutes when your skin needs calming, then patting in whatever’s left. On reactive skin that’s a much better way to use them than swiping back and forth, because even a soft pad is friction.

Someone whose skin reddens easily called them soothing and hydrating in their review. Lovely if you like pads, not essential if your toner already works. And for seb derm, it’s one of the easiest products in the post.

New SKIN1004 launches worth knowing about

SKIN1004 has been busy, and a few newer launches keep popping up in my feeds. Everything below is going by SKIN1004’s own descriptions.

The Centella Teca range, an ampoule, a soothing toner and a cream, is built around TECA, which is the four isolated centella actives: madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic acid and asiatic acid. The Hyalu-Teca Plumping Ampoule is the hydration one, with what SKIN1004 calls 20,000 ppm of its Hyalu-Teca complex plus collagen, peptides, glutathione and ceramide. There’s a Hyalu-Teca Glass Skin Milk and a Hyalu-Teca Firming Cream in the same family.

The Poremizing Glow Wrapping Mask is a pink gel mask that goes on as the last step and comes off after 20 to 30 minutes, with hydrolyzed extensin, Himalayan pink salt, rose PDRN, hyaluronic acid and ceramide NP.

And the Lab in Nature boosting shots are single-active ampoules: the Retinol 0.2, the Matrixyl 10 and the Niacinamide 10, all three at LOOKFANTASTIC. If you pick up any of these newer ones, run the full list through my checker before it goes near rosacea or seb derm skin.

Which SKIN1004 product is right for you?

I wouldn’t pick between these based on which one went viral. They do completely different jobs.

I have type 1 rosacea, not type 2, so your mileage may vary, and anything new on rosacea skin deserves a patch test first. The rosacea column is about fragrance and essential oils, which are the usual triggers, not a promise that nothing will ever flush.

The best SKIN1004 products (my picks)

If I could only keep two, it’d be the Centella Ampoule and the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule. One calms and the other treats, and both are about as safe as it gets for rosacea and seb derm at once. Add the sunscreen if you like a dewy finish, and the Soothing Cream if you want a light moisturizer to go with them.

I’d be most careful with two of them: the cleansing oil, because of the essential oils, and the Probio-Cica Enrich Cream if you have seb derm. Neither is a bad product. They’re just built for different skin than mine. If you’re 40-plus like me, the rest of what I use is in my Korean skincare for mature skin post, and if you’re comparing brands, my Anua skincare review checks five Anua products the same way.

FAQ

Is SKIN1004 a good skincare brand?

For sensitive skin, a lot of it is. The Madagascar Centella Ampoule, the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule and the Quick Calming Pads have short, fragrance-free lists with no oils. But the range is mixed. The Light Cleansing Oil contains essential oils and the Probio-Cica products contain plant oils and fatty acids, so check each list rather than trusting the brand name.

What is the best SKIN1004 product?

The Madagascar Centella Ampoule if you only buy one. It has seven ingredients, no fragrance and no oils, and it suits sensitive and rosacea-prone skin. For a treatment, the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule is my pick.

Is SKIN1004 good for rosacea?

Mostly, yes. Most of the range is fragrance free. The Light Cleansing Oil contains bergamot, geranium and rose oils, and the Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule contains 200ppm tea tree oil, so patch test those two. The Soothing Cream is fragrance free but lists peppermint leaf extract and ginger root extract. I have type 1 rosacea, so your mileage may vary.

Is SKIN1004 cruelty free?

Yes. SKIN1004 is PETA certified cruelty-free and vegan under PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies programme, so the brand has told PETA it doesn’t test its products or ingredients on animals. Retailers including Rossmann and Sweetcare list the same PETA certification, and the formulas have no animal-derived ingredients.

Is SKIN1004 fungal acne safe?

Some of it. The Madagascar Centella Ampoule, the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule, the Poremizing Fresh Ampoule and the Quick Calming Pads have nothing on their lists that Malassezia is known to feed on. The Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule, the Probio-Cica Enrich Cream and the Light Cleansing Oil all contain plant oils or fatty-acid esters.

Is the SKIN1004 sunscreen fungal acne safe?

Not on a strict reading. The Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum contains polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate, sodium stearoyl glutamate, behenyl alcohol and coco-caprylate/caprate. It is fragrance free, and it wears well under makeup with no white cast.

Does the SKIN1004 cleansing oil have essential oils?

Yes. The Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil lists bergamot fruit oil, geranium flower oil and rose flower oil, alongside sunflower, olive and jojoba oil.

What is the difference between the SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule and the Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule?

The original Centella Ampoule is a watery seven-ingredient serum with no oils. The Probio-Cica Intensive Ampoule is richer, with fermented centella, niacinamide and ceramide NP, but it also contains caprylic/capric triglyceride, macadamia seed oil and fatty acids, so it is far harder for seb derm.

Where can I buy SKIN1004 in the UK?

LOOKFANTASTIC stocks eight of the eleven SKIN1004 products in this post, and code LFTFNEVEEN gives up to 25% off. STYLEVANA stocks the Azelaic Acid 10 Ampoule, the Tone Brightening Capsule Ampoule and the Tea-Trica Relief Ampoule, and code INF10NEVE gives up to 25% off. YesStyle stocks all eleven, with code NEVEEN15 built into my links.
