What was in the March box

Quick bit of context before I get into it, because it matters for everything below. My skin is combo. Really oily through the t-zone, drier down on the lower cheeks. I’ve also got mild rosacea, the flushing kind rather than the acne kind, so my cheeks go red rather than breaking out. Where I do break out is my chin, hormonal stuff mostly, plus the whiteheads I’d been getting from wearing a face mask. (I’d been wearing foundation under the mask, which I’m fairly sure is what did it.)

So I lean hard on soothing ingredients. That’s the lens on all of this.

heimish All Clean Green Foam pH 5.5

I’d wanted this one for ages, ever since I saw Dr Dray talk about it on her channel.

It’s a thick gel that foams up when you work it in. No scent I could detect at all. And it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or stripped afterwards, which is the thing that usually ruins a foaming cleanser for me.

A week in and it had already become a favourite. One of my top two from the whole box.

Logically, Skin Defense Logic Hydro Multi-Shield Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++

This is a chemical sunscreen and it does contain essential oils, so worth knowing if your skin is reactive.

Texture-wise it’s a very lightweight gel. It sinks in and leaves a bit of moisture behind, with a slight glow to it. Sits really nicely under makeup. I don’t think it leaves a white cast, though I’m pale enough that I’m probably not the best judge of that.

The scent is the thing. You can smell the essential oils and it’s fairly strong, stronger than I’d personally want. I couldn’t find a full ingredient list for it online anywhere, which was frustrating, but I don’t believe it contains alcohol.

It didn’t cause a flare in the time I used it. I’d still be cautious with long-term use though, purely because of the oils.

A.H.C Hyaluronic Toner

I liked the pump on this more than I expected to. You can watch the level dropping through the week, which is oddly satisfying.

It’s a lightweight hydrating toner and the texture is a little thicker than water, but still thin. No scent I could pick up. It’s properly moisturising and I did notice a plumping effect, which I appreciated.

Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum Green Tea + Panthenol

Right, this one. I know I said the cleanser was a favourite but this is the actual number one.

The ingredient list is why. It’s 76.49% green tea leaf water (a very specific number, I love that) and 2% panthenol, plus artemisia vulgaris, which is mugwort, centella asiatica, propolis extract and sodium hyaluronate. Alcohol free, fragrance free, no essential oils.

It’s a lightweight gel that sinks in fast. And I could genuinely see it calming my red cheeks, which is the whole reason I care about soothing ingredients in the first place.

It goes a bit sticky right after you apply it. That does go once you layer something over the top. There’s a faint herbal smell but it’s coming from the ingredients rather than added fragrance.

Small bottle and I was going through it quickly. I’ll be repurchasing.

Isntree Real Mugwort Clay Mask

It dries down properly on the face, that tight crusty stage where you start bracing yourself for the rinse because you’re sure your skin is about to come off like parchment. Didn’t happen. It rinses off easily with warm water and leaves something behind, almost like a light film of moisture. My skin didn’t feel dry or crusty afterwards at all.

It’s got tiny exfoliating bits in it so there’s a bit of scrub when you rinse, but it’s gentle enough. Light herbal scent again, nothing overpowering.

What it actually did: cleared out my pores and helped with the oiliness and the breakouts through my t-zone. It’s been really good on the mask-area whiteheads specifically.

SCINIC My Juicy Bottle Mask (Aqua Ampoule Juice)

This came absolutely loaded with essence. Hydrating sheet mask, and there was so much of it left in the packet after I’d put the thing on my face.

I’ve got a fairly large round face and this one fit properly, which is not a given with sheet masks. Left it on about twenty minutes. No irritation to my rosacea, nothing.

After I took it off my skin was moisturised and glowy, that glass skin look everyones after, and my makeup went on over it beautifully.

I’ll be ordering more of these. I know the green one is meant to be really soothing so that’s next.
