So I did a thing.

I made a Reddit community. It’s called r/HelperHair and you can find it right here: reddit.com/r/HelperHair

The name comes from the term I use for wigs and toppers – “helper hair.” Because that’s what they are. Not a replacement, not a disguise. Just help. Something that helps. I’ve always liked that framing and I wanted a hair loss Reddit community built around it.

Who the r/HelperHair community is for

It’s for anyone dealing with hair loss in any form. Whether you’re brand new to all of this and don’t know where to start, deep in the wig and topper rabbit hole, fighting a scalp condition, or just want somewhere to talk about it with people who actually get it.

There are plenty of places online to find clinical information about hair loss. What’s harder to find is a hair loss Reddit community that feels like a conversation rather than a lecture. That’s what I want this to be.

What you can post there

I’ll be posting my blog posts in there regularly – reviews, guides, honest rambling about whatever I’m currently dealing with hair-wise. But I really want it to be more than just me.

If you’ve tried a product, write it up and share it. If you’ve got a question, ask it. If you just want to have a chat about something hair loss related with no particular agenda, that’s welcome too. Reviews, recommendations, questions, venting – all of it.

It’s a new community so it’s quiet right now. But every community starts somewhere, and I’d love for this one to actually become something.

Who is r/HelperHair for?

r/HelperHair is for anyone navigating hair loss in any form – whether you are new to hair loss and figuring out where to start, an experienced wig or topper wearer, dealing with a scalp condition like seborrhoeic dermatitis, or simply looking for a community that understands what hair loss actually feels like. What can I post in r/HelperHair?

You can post product reviews, questions, blog posts about hair loss, wig and topper recommendations, scalp care tips, or just general chat. The community is designed to be open and welcoming – there are no strict posting rules beyond being kind and keeping content relevant to hair loss and alternative hair.

What does “helper hair” mean?

“Helper hair” is a term used by Neveen Wood to describe wigs and hair toppers – pieces that help fill in or cover areas affected by hair loss. The term is intentionally non-clinical and non-stigmatising. Helper hair is not about hiding or pretending, it is about having a tool that helps you feel like yourself.

Is r/HelperHair only for women?

The community was created with women in mind, as hair loss in women is the focus of neveenwood.com. However the subreddit is open to anyone dealing with hair loss, wearing wigs or toppers, or looking for a supportive community around alternative hair and scalp health.

Where can I find more information about wigs, toppers and hair loss?

neveenwood.com covers wigs, hair toppers, hair loss causes, scalp conditions, and honest product reviews – all written from personal experience rather than clinical expertise. Posts cover topics including colour matching wigs and toppers, hair topper mistakes, androgenic alopecia, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and scalp care routines.
